Location: West Coast Tasmania
Occupation: General Practitioner
Title Description: GP/VMO
Position Type: Full Time, Permanent, Part Time
DPA: Yes
MMM: 6
Moratorium Period: 6 Years
Are you an experienced Rural GP VMO looking to play a vital role in a unique rural town? Queenstown is the largest town on Tasmania's rugged west coast and the primary hub for the greater west coast region.
The Position
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced rural generalist GP/VMO to join Ochre Health at its practice in Queenstown on a full-time or part-time basis.
Ochre Medical Centre Queenstown is a well equipped and purpose built facility, situated adjacent to the district hospital and aged care facility, and you will have the opportunity to supplement your income through providing on-call services to the hospital.
Ideally you will be vocationally recognised, with solid experience in common general practice conditions, chronic disease management and the ability to manage patients with complex co-morbidities. In your capacity as a VMO providing on-call services to the public hospital, you will need to have current advanced life support skills (APLS, ELS, etc) and recent experience in an unsupervised setting, and be proficient with airway management and the emergency care of critically unwell patients.
Ochre is offering great benefits that include a sign-on bonus, lucrative on-call rates, flexible non-lock-in contracts, accommodation and car.
The Organisation
Ochre Health is a leading provider of healthcare to rural, regional and urban communities around Australia, operating a network of over 60 medical centres across five states and territories. The four general practices on Tasmania's west coast are all owned and operated by Ochre Health.
Queenstown is a mining town lying in a valley on the western slopes of Mount Owen on the West Coast Range, with stunning wilderness scenery right on the doorstep and abundant opportunities for outdoor activities. Queenstown is four hours by road from Hobart and two hours from Burnie.
The practice is the only medical centre in Queenstown and is attached to the West Coast District Hospital and the local aged care facility. The doctors are supported by a full-time CDM-trained RN, administration staff and a number of visiting allied health professionals and ancillary services. A telehealth program allows access for patients to distant specialist services.
West Coast District Hospital has two emergency and ten acute beds, with the majority of major presentations being transferred to the nearest tertiary referral hospital at Burnie, a two hour drive away on the North West Coast.
What's on offer?
- Attractive sign-on bonus
- Flexible working hours - you will have full autonomy
- No lock-in contracts
- $400,000 target earnings, including house and car
- On-call VMO rate of $700 per day
- Eligibility for Workforce Incentive Program and procedural payments
